Well, I can never keep my layout anywhere the same for long, I changed my website's layout. It's basically the same old layout that was in the new selection of the Weebly's, but fiddled a very little bit with the CSS. Like this one a bit better, but due to me not being able to figure out what was going on with the navigation, I had to reorder and move some stuff around.
I got a new tablet! Shia of FP was kind enough to let me purchase it from her. It's a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet and I'm really happy about it. So now that I have a tablet, I am opening commissions, mainly for USD. FPC slots will be limited. :P
If you are interested in commissioning me, please message me. I've updated my website's prices and example work. :)
Turns out when I tried to run GIMP for the first time on that PC, it can't handle it. The program runs too slow. So it looks like its back to Sumo Paint. :/
Also, more bad news, when my mom tried to start the car, it wouldn't start at all. It's been having trouble starting for the past week or so, but now its completely dead so now, the Mac is pushed back even further and probably won't get fixed for even longer if I leave it up to my mom. A friend said she new somebody who sells once-used-by-the-government Toshiba laptops for $150-$300 dollars so maybe my hope lies there, who knows.
For the first time, I hate that I'm a cartoonist. I really wish I could get $15 for a tag or something like those other artists, but I can barely even get FPC. I am just going to have to hope I can get even a few dollars out of FP and maybe pray I can get a job on top of school. So if you're reading this, know that I'm opening my commissions now, but for USD only. FPC won't fix my computer.
There was nothing I could do for that old PC. But I luckily remembered a conversation I had during a Join Me I was hosting about using Linux. I wasn't going to be changing my Mac's OS anytime soon, but, even though I've heard of the OS plenty of time, I'm glad I got that reminder. I did some further research and decided I'd try to install it on the old PC. I went with Ubuntu, but trying to install it alongside Windows wasn't working. So yesterday, I went out and bought some CD-RWs and downloaded Ubuntu to it. This time, I decided that Windows was completely useless and just wiped it off the lousy thing for good and replaced it completely with Ubuntu.
So far, things are looking pretty good. It's still not as fast as my Mac, but I wasn't expecting it to be, the machine is a billion years old anyway. Firefox opens and doesn't crash as soon as I try to load a website. It's not too fast as it's running from a Wi-Fi adapter, but it gets the job one for things like getting refs and stuff. GIMP is downloading as I type this. My tablet was recognized just fie thankfully, so we'll just see how it goes.
If you're curious as to why I claim to have 3 computers, but need my Mac fixed, here's your answer.
PC Numero Uno (#1)
Click on the screenie to the left. That is all the space I have on this PC. I am home-schooled and the school program allows low-income families such as mine to use 1 computer for school purposes. We got this one because the school just became Mac-compatible so we needed a PC. They don't have much space on this computer so I can't install anything on this and they don't' want you to anyway.
PC Numero Dos (#2)
This is the PC I revamped with Ubuntu. I'm sure you know enough about it by now. It is still slow, even with it's new OS. I can't play any games on it and can only really use it for art like I plan to and for very basic internet use. I can't use it as a real computer.
The only good computer in out home. It's broken so I can't use it. This is the only one I ever used to use since my school became compatible with it.
So all that aside, I hope things will work out enough for me to at least so some type of art so I can do something to get USD for fix my Mac.
_11-12-11: I am currently trying to get another PC in my house running. It's an old XP computer given to us by a friend long before we had our MacBook. It's so old and slow, we never really used it. I had previously installed GIMP on it as well as my tablet software and camera program. I'm doing everything I can to possibly get it running fast enough for use. It currently takes roughly 5-8 minutes for GIMP to start up, 3-5 minutes to start up Firefox, and god forbid something goes "not responding", it'll take 2-5 minutes to quit the program and another 10 minutes to restart it. I really did time it. I really hope I can get it running so I can at least do some art and earn some USD to get my computer fixed.
11-7-11: My art computer is broken. I went to the Apple store and they informed us that something is likely wrong with the logicboard. It will cost over $300 to fix and we can't afford that right now. My mom told me she might be able to fix it sometime early next year, but even that is iffy (low income family). The PC I'm currently using belongs to my home-school program and has very little space on it. I cannot download GIMP on it and I can't use Paint as I'm not familiar with it. I can't even install my tablet's software so I'm not going to be able to do art for a long, long time. I have refunded all paid commissions.
